Ray Dube’s Road to Online Success started life as a simple blog and eventually morphed into something quite a bit bigger. I wasn’t exactly sure if I was going in the right direction or not, but it kinda fit when I started it out that way, and I think I made the right choice.

Ray Dube’s Road to Online Success, now this Joomla based site, is a little bit more on the personal side, while The Road to Online Success, and all it’s become, is now on it’s own.

The Road to Online Success is now a series of 4 sites, all related to finding your way to Online Success, I started out with the blog, and it’s been moved, in it’s entirety, to the new site, now included in the family is a Traffic Builder, a Web Directory, and soon Web Services.

The Web Services, I think, will probably form a sort of core for the others to evolve around. I’ve been on numerous sites where everyone is saying that it’s important to have your own domain, and your own site. I can’t argue with them now can I? So I watched and listened to what people were doing, and was briefly affected when a site I was a member of when bust because of spam issues and complaints of innapropriate methods used by members.

With that in mind, many programs that you may get involved in online, may start requiring it’s members to do the marketing not through the main site, but through satellite member sites. Each member should have their own site which they could use to promote their business. It doesn’t make logical sense for a program operator to host the business, traffic, bandwidth problems and all and have to worry about one or two members who may not respect certain rules of conduct.

So, go ahead let me know if I’ve made a mistake to offer hosting services, among other things, I think not, and I think it’s time that anyone who is in business online realizes that it’s important for you to take posession of your business. And to take posession of your business, you need to take the material, the business offered to you by the multitude of programs out there, and place it all in your own hands. Depend on yourself and your actions to make sure you succeed. Be a partner, but don’t rely on the actions of your program admin to make sure that the site you use will always be available, or tailored to your needs. Although the admin might be quite happy to set you up with what he thinks will work best, it’s still up to you to find the ways that work best for you. Remember, promoting your site online takes a lot more than just simple word of mouth, it takes effort. You can’t be an Online Success by simply using someone else’s work, you have to create your own.

So, own your business, promote it in the way the members of your team or partners suggest, but be ready to go elsewhere to promote your site. Be ready to work at SEO, so that your site will be seen in the Search Engines. Be ready to do some Directory submissions so that you site will be seen by visitors there, and boost your listing in the Search Engines. Frankly, be ready to work.

You will not be an overnight Success. it takes work. I’m not saying that you’ll have to spend every waking hour working at it, but you do have to spend time working. No matter what anyone says, millioinaires like Donald Trump don’t just sit on their duffs all day long, they continue working at it, every day and so should we all.
